Mathura, December 29: Six people, including a 52-year-old man who returned from Uganda, were found infected with COVID-19 in the district, officials said on Wednesday. Dr Bhudev Singh, in-charge of the Rapid Response Team, said Amit Jain, who had come from Uganda a week ago, was found infected with Covid-19.

The other two, Amit Pathak (38) and Deepika Chaturvedi (32), who had returned from Singapore about two months ago, were also found infected with the virus, the official said. He said that all the infected have been home quarantined and the areas where they are living have been converted into containment zones.

Some samples, including those from abroad, have been sent for genome sequencing, he said. With the new additional cases, the total number of cases in the district has gone up to 17, officials said.
