A fire broke out at a packaging factory in Gujarat’s Kadodora GIDC in the early hours of today. Two laborers died in the incident. 125 people have been rescued safely. Several laborers jumped from the five-storey building to escape the fire, due to which some are also reported to be injured.

Surat Fire Brigade said that they got information about the accident at 4.30 am. Soon after, 10 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and fire brigade personnel engaged in the rescue work. They had to struggle a lot to get the fire under control. The fire was brought under control after about three and a half hours.

15 laborers hospitalized
Nikesh Likhar, EME of 108 ambulances, said that 20 workers were burnt. 15 people have been admitted to Surat hospital. Since morning 108 ambulance workers from Pune, Varachha, Godadra, Limbayat, Navgam and Surat are engaged in transporting patients to the hospital. He said that I myself am involved in this operation for 2 hours.

Accident investigation begins
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Police has started investigation into the incident. Several laborers were working on the fifth floor when the fire broke out, the police official said. Seeing the flames rising, the workers got scared and jumped from there to save their lives.

The rescue operation took a lot of effort
SDM KG Vaghela said there were more than 100 people in the building at the time of the accident. The fire brigade staff worked hard to save the people. At the same time, Surat Mayor Himali Bogawala said that I got the news of the fire at around 5.30 am and I reached the spot immediately. Relief and rescue work is on.

18 killed in a fire in Bharuch hospital in April
In April this year, a massive fire broke out at Patel Welfare Kovid Hospital in Bharuch, Gujarat. 18 people died in the accident. These included 16 patients and 2 staff nurses. There were 50 more patients admitted in this four-storey hospital. All were shifted to Civil Hospital, Sewashram Hospital and Jambusar Al Mahmood Hospitals.
