Fashion designer, entrepreneur and now actor, Masaba Gupta tied the knot with her boyfriend, actor Satyadeep Mishra on January 27 this year. The couple had an intimate court wedding attended by Masaba’s parents – actor Neena Gupta and retired cricketer Viv Richards – with other family members and close friends present. Masaba met Satyadeep on the sets of their show Masaba Masaba Season One. Interestingly, she played the role of her ex-husband in this Netflix original series. The two have been dating for a while, however, they have kept their relationship away from the limelight.
And now, in an exclusive chat with News18, the Modern Love Mumbai actor talks about this new phase in his life. “It’s been a little over ten days now! But it’s been great,” she says with a laugh. Talking about her husband, she tells us, “I’ve found a great partner. He’s someone who’s really my calm. I meant that what i said in the caption [on Instagram], When I go back and he is with me, nothing can affect me. It sounds really cool.
On the work front, Masaba is all set to make her podcast debut with Marvel’s Wastelanders presented by Marvel Entertainment and audible. The franchise, adapted from the hit series Westlanders, introduces Marvel’s most iconic heroes as they fight to restore order and justice in a post-apocalyptic future, where supervillains have died after a tragic event that killed nearly all superheroes. In power for many years. Masaba will be seen as Lisa Cartwright in the part titled Black Widow alongside actor Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Sharing her excitement about the same, Masaba says, “It is a great honor to work with Marvel. This is very special. So, is she a fan of the Marvel universe? “I’m not the kind of fanatic who catches the opening show every day when a Marvel movie is released, but I make sure I watch them all. If there’s anything that makes me want to wake up, book tickets, and It is definitely a Marvel film,” she comments. Talking about her favorite superheroes, she enthusiastically says, “There are a lot of them but my favorite Favorite is Spiderman. Actually, the case is between Spiderman and Ironman. I saw their stories evolve while this was happening and therefore, they are special.
In 2020, the 33-year-old made her acting debut with Masaba Masaba, a semi-fictional take on her personal and professional life. She went on to star in Modern Love Mumbai, an anthology that won her widespread acclaim, and the second season of Masaba Masaba last year. Talking about how lending her voice to an audio series is ‘a complete extension of an actor’, Masaba elaborated, “I was telling Mantra (Enchanted; director) the other day that it’s funny but when I Doing Marvel’s Wasteland, be it my show or Modern Love, I feel like I have become a different person. When I act, I don’t have the same personality that I had when I was a designer and entrepreneur. It is definitely an extension of actress Masaba, but it is a different role and avatar that I have taken on. That was the wiring I had while doing this.
While she’s game for every new opportunity that life offers her, she says that being a part of Black Widow was rather challenging. Produce her and Masaba, who is looking forward to recording the series, explains, “Above all, it’s a huge challenge in my mind because it’s not even acting. Imagine having your face snatched away and All you have is your voice and that’s all you have. I just realized that’s a very dark way of looking at it (laughs). Let me put it this way – let’s imagine not seeing your face going, but you have to believe and make people believe in something. That’s also the beauty of expressing emotion through your voice alone
