Ever since Marvel released the first trailer for the much-anticipated superhero flicks Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Ring, fans haven’t been able to calm down. With the film, Marvel Studios will feature the MCU’s first Asian superhero in a lead role. On Friday, the producers released a new trailer giving a big hint that a certain Doctor Strange character might make a cameo.
On Friday, actor Simu Liu, who will play the lead role, gave a pleasant surprise to his fans as he shared the newly launched trailer of the film on Twitter.
The film centers around Shang-Chi, the heir to a martial arts heritage and the son of the villainous Wenwu (Tony Leung). The two-minute-long trailer shows Shang Chi at loggerheads with his father Wenwu/The Mandarin, who runs the terrorist organization Ten Rings, first seen in 2008’s Iron Man. The clip hints at a major father-son fight as Shang-Chi seeks to distance himself from him, but it won’t be easy. The trailer also reveals that Leung will also act as the main villain in the film. Finally, the promo shows Abomination (Tim Roth) fighting with a magician in a cage from 2009’s The Incredible Hulk. And that magician is none other than Doctor Strange’s Benedict Wong.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for works such as Just Mercy, The Glass Castle and Short Term 12. Starring Simu Liu as the central character, the film also stars Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Fala Chen, Menger Zhang. , Florian Munteanu, and Ronnie Chiang essay the main characters.
Talking about his character, Liu had earlier told Hollywood Reporter“There are many moments, and so many characters that you root for and fall in love with. It’s really a celebration of Marvel and superheroes but also of Asian myths. It’s something we haven’t seen in a superhero film before.”
The film will be released in cinemas across the world on September 3.
