Green suggests that the patient is ready to take the medicines. The yellow light is the reminder to refill the MERM box. Red is for the battery. The battery can be recharged at any government health centre.
He said, “It has been observed that TB patients become oblivious to the disease after two or three months of medication and discontinue the drug. As a result, they become drug resistant.”
Asked if a poor TB patient needs a smart phone for this, he said, “It is not mandatory. We just need to strictly follow the medicines.”
