Marathi actress Amrita Khanvilkar constantly calls her husband ‘guru’ in her life

The nation observed the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima on 13 July, a day to celebrate the importance of a Guru or Guru in one’s life. On this day many people pay homage to their gurus. Recently, Marathi actress Amrita Khanvulkar of Chandramukhi fame interacted with Etimes on the occasion of Guru Purnima where she talked about what the festival means to her and who her mentor is.

She named her husband Himanshu Malhotra as her constant mentor in life. Exclusively talking to Etiimes she said, “I am a devotee of Shri Swami Samarth. He is the Guru with whom I have a really deep connection. I have experienced some wonderful events in my life. Thus I wish to express my gratitude. He used to go to the temple every day.

“Classical choreographer Ashish Patil is my mentor when it comes to dance. My mentor, who acts as both my constant support and life guide, is my husband Himanshu Malhotra. He is a man of unwavering discipline who stands by his faith.”

She also revealed that her husband has always played an important role in every decision in her life, be it professional or personal. She concludes by saying that no one understands her better than Himanshu.

Amrita and Himanshu took the wedding vows in January 2015 after years of dating. They had appeared in the dancing reality show Nach Baliye 7 as a couple contestants and were crowned the winners of that season.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Amrita is currently in limelight for her last released Marathi film ‘Chandramukhi’ helmed by actor-director Prasad Oak. Adinath Kothare and Mrinmayi Deshpande also played important roles in this. As part of Chandramukhi’s massive campaign, Amrita in April became the first Marathi actress to have a poster on an airplane.
