Marathi actor Jitendra Joshi is all praise for Nagraj Manjule and Amitabh Bachchan for Jhund

Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund opened in theaters this Friday and was well received by both the audience and critics. Directed by Marathi filmmaker Nagraj Manjule, the man behind the critically acclaimed Sairat, Dhund has garnered praise from industry stalwarts like Aamir Khan and Dhanush.

A special screening of Jhund was held recently. Noted Marathi actor Jitendra Joshi was among those who saw the bunch at the special screening and were mesmerized by the story. Joshi praised the cast and crew of Nagraj Manjule and Jhund in an Instagram Live.

In a message to his fans, Jitendra Joshi said that this is Manjule’s first foray into the Hindi cinema industry, and he would like to congratulate everyone that such a prolific Marathi director is now a member of mainstream show business.

Further, he added that Manjule is one of those directors who portray a film in its raw and real state, without make-up. The beauty of his talent is that he does not hide anything. Jitendra Joshi said that he had never seen Amitabh Bachchan as he was portrayed by Manjule. He joked that the filmmaker didn’t let Big B do his “Bachchan Giri”.

Aamir Khan had praised the film, saying, “It’s a wonderful film. It’s unbelievable. It’s so unique and I don’t know how it was made. I woke up with a zeal and this film won’t leave me.” I have no words as it is such an amazing film. It breaks everything we have learned in 20-30 years of being in the industry.”

Dhanush said that he was simply mind-blowing. “Nagraj Manjule is a voice that needs to be heard, a force to be reckoned with. I can say a thousand technical things about this film that it is fantastic. At the end of the day, it’s about the feeling that conquers everything. It is an experience that everyone must go through. It is a masterpiece and it is going to turn a lot of heads. I am very happy to see this film,” Dhanush said.

Apart from Joshi, several Indian filmmakers including Anurag Kashyap, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Milap Zaveri, Om Raut, Inder Kumar, Mudassar Aziz, Siddharth Jadhav and Subhash Kapoor attended the special screening organized by the producers and shared their views.

Anurag Kashyap lauded Jhund, saying, “It is one of the best films I have seen in such a long time”. Director Om Raut said that this is a film that shakes you, it is not just entertaining but thought-provoking.
