Hazaribagh : Hazaribagh Police arrested a member of CPIMaoistThe man who had a reward of Rs 25 lakh on his head and was wanted in 90 cases registered in various police stations in the state and Bihar, police said on Friday. The arrest was made on Thursday at Kothabukar hill in Chauparan police station area after the police received information about his whereabouts.
The rebel has been identified as Pradyumna Sharma (49). He was a member of the Eastern Regional Bureau of the organization and a member of the Magadha region of the Bihar Jharkhand Special Area Committee (BJSAC) of the Maoists.
A Philosophy graduate, hailing from Rustampur village in Bihar’s Jehanabad district, Sharma joined the outlaw organization in 1996 and went by nicknames like Saket, Lula and Kundan.
Terming Sharma’s arrest as a priceless catch, Hazaribagh SP Manoj Ranjan Chauth said, “He was part of the think tank of the illegal organization and was the brain behind the massive fundraising from under-construction railway projects and civil projects. Public Works Department in the area. ”
As soon as the police came to know that Sharma had reached the forests of Chauparan on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, a team under the command of ASP (Operations) Nigam Prasad and Deputy Commandant Ajit Kumar was put together. Sharma said during interrogation that he was mostly active in the Magadha region of Bihar and Jharkhand since joining the Maoists. Being a BJSAC member, Sharma was also responsible for strengthening the Maoist organization in the region.
