A Maoist was killed in an encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Tuesday. A police officer gave this information.
A joint team of District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force was out on an anti-Maoist operation, the encounter took place around 10 a.m. in a forest between Perovada and Timenar villages under Miratur police station area of Inspector General of Police (Bastar). Range) Sundarraj P told PTI.

He said the encounter started when the patrol party was moving through the forest near Perovada and Timenar villages.
The IG said that after the encounter stopped, the body of a Maoist and a weapon were recovered from the spot.
The identity of the slain Maoist is yet to be ascertained, he said, adding that the search operation is still going on in the area.
