Tribal Lahaul Valley of Himachal Pradesh will become a hub of adventure and winter sports in the coming times. Regarding this action plan, Tourism Director Amit Kashyap and Deputy Commissioner Lahaul-Spiti Neeraj Kumar held detailed discussions in Keylong and also reviewed the steps to be taken towards its implementation.
Deputy Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said that Sissu would be developed as a tourist village under the state government’s ambitious Nai Rahein-Nai Manzilen scheme. As per the guidelines of the state government, apart from the facilities of hotels and restaurants, there will be facilities for ice skating, parking, park and toilets in Sissu.
Cafe facility has already been provided by the Tourism Corporation. River rafting has also opened in Lahaul. Apart from this, necessary formalities are also being completed in the direction of starting paragliding. A place has been earmarked for paragliding.
Adventure tourism will get a boost.
High mask light will be installed
A high mask light will also be installed in Sissu. A grand reception gate is also being constructed. Information and informative small hoardings for tourists are being set up at various important places so that tourists can get information about various aspects of Lahaul Valley.

Zip line facility will also start
The possibilities of skiing are also being seriously considered to recognize Lahaul Valley as a winter sports, so that Lahaul Valley can mark its own name on the world tourism map for adventure tourism as well. In order to give a new dimension to tourism in the valley, facilities like boating and zip line will also be started. The concept of adventure tourism in Lahaul Valley has been further strengthened by the recent holding of motor sports events.
Lahaul’s SDM and District Tourism Development Officer Priya Nagta said that a logo with the tag line ‘Luxurious Lahaul’ has been designed by the tourism department. Which will be used in various tourism related activities and events. Apart from Sisu, selfie points have also been developed for tourists at the North Portal.
