Veteran actor Manoj Pahwa, who carved a niche for himself in the comedy genre, has now proved his versatility on the silver screen by taking on challenging roles. Be it Bilal in Mulk or Abrar Bhatt in Anek, Manoj Pahwa has impressed fans and critics alike with his exceptional acting skills. During his latest conversation with YouTuber Samdish Bhatia, Pahwa took a trip down memory lane to recount one of his unforgettable memories with late actor Rishi Kapoor.
Rishi Kapoor’s demise left a huge void in the hearts of fans and the showbiz world. Recalling the evergreen star, Pahwa opened up about the time when he had a meal with Rishi Kapoor while the two were shooting for Anubhav Sinha’s Mulk.
Pahwa recalled how Rishi Kapoor was an avid eater whose plate was not limited to one dish alone. According to him, Kapoor had a chef who cooked for him. Pahwa said that his director Anubhav Sinha teased him for having dinner with Rishi.
He explained, “A chef at the Taj Hotel used to cook for them. Being Kapoor, his food was scattered all over the table. There were four types of mutton, four types of chicken, five types of sweets. Anubhav used to tease me, ‘Aab toh you will eat with Rishi Kapoor. (Now you will eat food only with Rishi Kapoor.)
In an unfortunate turn of events, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with leukemia back in 2018. He underwent treatment abroad for almost a year before returning to India. However, in April 2020, the iconic star was admitted to the hospital at Sir HN Reliance Foundation due to breathing difficulties. He died on April 30, 2022, at the age of 67.
