Manoj Bajpayee was reluctant to play Shrikant Tiwari in The Family Man, know why

Several films and web series have depicted the lives of secret agents who selflessly serve their country without revealing their identity. ‘The Family Man’ has garnered immense love and appreciation from the audience for its brilliant portrayal of the life of a secret agent. Actor Manoj Bajpayee played the lead role of the protagonist Shrikant Tiwari Amazon Prime video series. The character became an instant hit among the audience, who liked the comical yet patriotic touch that Manoj gave to his character.

Helmed by supporting actors like Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi and Shahab Ali, the web series has an impressive IMDb rating of 8.5/10. The second season of The Family Man, which added Samantha Ruth Prabhu to the star cast of the show, was also well received.

But not many know that Manoj almost rejected the project as he initially felt that the role of Shrikant Tiwari would follow a repetitive pattern of blood and violence.

Expressing his views at the International Film Festival of India, Manoj said that when he was asked to play the role, he was reluctant as he felt it was following a certain pattern of blood, violence and pistols. As reported by ETimes. Manoj underlined that this concept has become a template for the makers in every other web series, and he did not want to be a part of any other show like this.

As surprising as The Family Man turns out, Manoj’s thoughts hold true as many filmmakers have followed the format of showing blood, violence and abuse after the success of Gangs of Wasseypur and the recent Sacred Games.

On the work front, Manoj will be seen in films like Campus directed by Suwahdan Angre, Mughal Road directed by Muhammad Ali and Milap Zaveri Ki Rakh. He had earlier worked with Milap in Satyamev Jayate where he was seen playing the role of a cop.
