Manjot Singh aka Fukrey Ki Laali opens up on struggle to find work

Actor Manjot Singh started his journey in the Hindi film industry at the age of 16 in 2008 with Dibakar Banerjee’s highly acclaimed film Oye Lucky! Lucky oh! The comedy film starred Abhay Deol in the lead role and won the National Award for Best Popular Film. The ensemble cast includes Paresh Rawal, Neetu Chandra, Manu Rishi, Richa Chadha, Manjot and Archana Puran Singh. The film was inspired by the real-life shenanigans of a real-life thief, Devinder Singh aka Bunty, whose name was changed to Lucky for the film.

Manjot played the role of Kishore Lucky in the film and his work was loved by all. But it was in 2013 when he made a breakthrough with the blockbuster Fukrey, which also saw a sequel, Fukrey Returns, in 2017. The film has a talented cast which also includes Ali Fazal, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma and Richa Chadha.

But recently, in an interview with Times Now, the actor shared that he was not getting any important roles after Fukrey and the drought continued for almost two years. He was not being offered what he wanted to do. And, that’s when his reality check happened. He said that waiting for the right opportunity is not easy.

Manjot went on to act in some extremely entertaining films like Udaan, Azhar, Student Of The Year, Arjun Patiala and Penalty.

On the professional front, he will soon be seen in SonyLIV’s new series Chutzpa, directed by Mrigdeep Lamba. The plot consists of five stories that are connected to each other via the internet and the real-life complexities the characters face.
