‘Manish Sisodia’s Ward Has Minimum Inmates, No Gangsters…’: Jail Authorities Reject AAP’s ‘Murder’ Charges

New Delhi: Hours after AAP leaders alleged that there was a threat to Manish Sisodia’s life in Tihar Jail, the Delhi jail administration dismissed the Aam Aadmi Party’s allegations as ‘baseless’. Leaders of the Arvind Kejriwal-led party had claimed that they fear former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia might be killed as he is lodged in Tihar jail along with “dreaded criminals”. Sisodia was arrested for his alleged involvement in the excise policy scam. Responding to the allegation, Delhi Jail said that former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been kept in a ward of Tihar’s Central Jail No. 1, which has minimum number of prisoners and no gangsters.

This reply has been issued by the jail administration after the statement of AAP MP Sanjay Singh and MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj.

According to AAP national spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj, Sisodia is being kept in a cell with other convicts and has not been given a “Vipassana” cell.

“Manish Sisodia was requested to be kept in the Vipassana cell of the jail and the same was approved by the court. Despite the court’s approval, Sisodia is kept with criminals in Jail No. 1. The Center must respond.” Bhardwaj said.

In response, the prison authorities issued a statement saying, “Manish Sisodia has been assigned a separate ward keeping in mind his security. The ward … houses the least number of inmates who are not gangsters and are inside the prison.” maintain good conduct.” ,

According to jail officials, a separate cell makes it possible for him to meditate or do other such activities without any interference. An official said, “As per jail rules, all arrangements have been made to ensure his safety. Any allegation about his residence is baseless.”

Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in the excise policy scam case. He is currently in judicial custody.

The court had allowed the senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader to take the Bhagavad Gita, spectacles and medicines to the jail and directed the Tihar authorities to consider his request to allow him to do Vipassana meditation.
