Manish Sisodia’s CBI Custody In Delhi Liquor Scam Case Ends, To Be Produced In Court Today

New DelhiFormer Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was sent to CBI custody on Monday after his arrest in the Delhi Excise Policy case, will be produced in the court. He was arrested by the probe agency in a case related to alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the excise policy of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD).

Following his arrest, he resigned as Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi on 28 February, meanwhile, on 4 March, the Rouse Avenue Court extended the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) remand of Sisodia in the Delhi liquor scam case. Special Judge MK Nagpal granted two days more remand of Manish Sisodia to CBI. The court also issued notice to the CBI on the bail plea filed by 51-year-old Sisodia and listed the matter for March 10.

Seeking further remand of Sisodia, the CBI counsel had said, “He is still non-cooperative and we need his further custody to confront him with two persons.” The CBI had told the court, “His medical took a long time. The petition filed in the Supreme Court took a whole day, which was dismissed.” Senior advocate Dayan Krishna appeared for Sisodia, who opposed the CBI’s plea for extension of remand, and submitted that “What is the difference between the first day and today? My house and my office were also raided… keeping me in custody.” Documents will be produced in CBI custody, is it logical???

“Senior Advocate Mohit Mathur also appeared for Sisodia and submitted that considering all this the medical condition of my wife is being set aside.” During the hearing, Manish Sisodia himself said in the court that the CBI officials are taking care of me, treating me with respect and giving everything and not using any third degree.

“But they are making me sit for 9-10 hours daily and asking the same questions again and again… It is nothing less than mental torture,” he said. On this, the court directed the CBI not to ask questions again and again. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader told a trial court in his bail plea that keeping him in custody would not serve any meaningful purpose as all the seizures have already been made.

Sisodia also said that he has joined the investigation when called by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Other accused arrested in this case have already got bail. Sisodia further said that he holds the important constitutional post of Deputy CM of Delhi and has deep roots in the society.

The Rouse Avenue court had earlier sent Sisodia to CBI remand, directing that the interrogation of the accused during the remand period would be conducted at a place with CCTV coverage as per the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court and the said footage would be preserved by the CBI. ,

While remanding Sisodia to CBI remand, the trial court observed that the accused had earlier joined the investigation of the case on two occasions, but it was also observed that he failed to give satisfactory answers to most of the questions put to him during interrogation Is. The investigation and inquiry conducted and thus far, have failed to validly explain the incriminating evidence allegedly unearthed against him in the investigation conducted so far.

It is true that they cannot be expected to give incriminating statements but in the interests of justice and a fair investigation it is necessary that they should give some valid answers to the questions that are being put to them by the investigating officer. Are. Court.
