Manipur Violence: The Manipur High Court has directed the state government to conduct physical tests to check the feasibility of providing internet service on mobile phones while ensuring safety of life and property of citizens.
The court, which has sought a detailed report, will hear the matter on July 25 (Tuesday).
After hearing several Public Interest Litigations (PILs), a division bench of Justice A. Bimol and Justice A. Guneshwar Sharma said, “In case of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) connection, internet service can be provided by the Home Department. Committee On a case to case basis after ensuring compliance with the suggested safety measures.
The 12-member expert committee had informed the court that Internet service can be provided through broadband connection, either through Internet Leased Line (IL) or FTTH, by “ensuring static IP, from any router or system”.
