Manipur latest violence: Three people were killed in Manipur’s Imphal West district on Monday morning when there was fresh exchange of fire between two armed groups. Four others were injured in the latest incident of violence in the state. According to the police, the incident took place in Kangchup area of ​​the district.

The injured were admitted to the hospital

Police further said that the injured were admitted to a hospital in Imphal where their condition is stated to be stable. He said four people were injured in the exchange of fire between two groups at Serou in Kaking district.

Angry villagers set a deserted camp on fire

Angry villagers set ablaze the abandoned camp of the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) at Sugnoo in Kakching district just after the signing of a peace accord with the government in Manipur following violence, police said today.

Villagers vent their anger after at least 100 abandoned houses, including the residence of Congress MLA Ranjeet, were set on fire at Serau in Kakching district’s Suganu. According to the police, for the last two days there was almost round-the-clock firing between the terrorists and the security forces.

On Sunday, prior to the arson attack, joint forces of the state police, including the Indian Reserve Battalion, and the Border Security Force along with village volunteers had a gun battle with the militants at the Nazareth camp, which led to the militants fleeing their camp. The villagers later torched the camp on Sunday night, which also houses training facilities for newly recruited Kuki militants.

Heavy firing was also reported from Phayeng in Imphal West district on Sunday, while Kuki militants set a sawmill on fire. In another development, some houses were set on fire at Langol in Imphal West district by unidentified persons on Sunday, police said. At least 98 people lost their lives and 310 others were injured in ethnic violence that broke out in Manipur a month ago.
