Mangaluru: Mangaluru South police have arrested six persons for torturing a laborer on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone at Mangaluru Old Port (Dakke).
A video of the victim hanging upside down on a fishing boat and being carried away by the accused has gone viral.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said the 34-year-old victim and the accused are laborers from Andhra.
The victim has been identified as Sheenu.
A senior official said that the incident happened on December 15, but it was revealed on Wednesday.
A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including section 143 147 148 323 324 307 364 342 506.
