Mandi Lok Sabha by-election: Congress fielded Virbhadra Singh, wife of former Himachal Pradesh CM

Pratibha Singh has represented the same constituency in the past and the seat fell vacant after the death of Ram Swaroop Sharma.

The Congress on Tuesday announced that Pratibha Singh, wife of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, will contest from Mandi Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming by-election. Pratibha Singh has represented the same constituency in the past and the seat fell vacant after the death of Ram Swaroop Sharma.

The party has also decided to field Sanjay Awasthi from Arki assembly seat which fell vacant after the death of Virbhadra Singh sometime back. Congress announced in an official communication that Bhavani Singh Pathania will contest from Fatehpur assembly seat and Rohit Thakur from Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly seat in three assembly constituencies of the state.

Congress has also decided to field Raj Narayan Singh Purni from Khandwa Lok Sabha seat of Madhya Pradesh. The party has fielded Kalpana Verma from Raigaon-SC assembly seat and Mahesh Patel from Jobat-ST assembly seat of Madhya Pradesh.

The party also decided that Rajesh Kumar Mishra will contest from Tarapur assembly seat in Bihar and Atirek Kumar Kusheshwar from Asthan-SC seat, that too from Bihar. The party has fielded PM Kamalamma from Badvel-SC assembly seat in Andhra Pradesh in an official communication. In Assam, Shailendra Nath Das has been chosen by the party to contest from Bhawanipur assembly constituency, while Luhit Konwar has been fielded from Mariani assembly seat.

In Karnataka, the party has elected Ashok Managoli to contest from Sindgi assembly seat and Srinivas V Mane from Hangal assembly constituency. Bypolls to several parliamentary and assembly constituencies will be held on October 30 and the results will be out on November 2.
