Manchester United seem to have reached the final stage of completing the transfer of French defender Leny Yoro. The Premier League side has reportedly agreed on a £52 million deal to sign the promising center-back from Lille.
When the transfer window opened, the President of the French side, Olivier Letang, made it clear that Yoro would be released this summer.
Meanwhile, Manchester United aim to strengthen their defence line which appeared lackluster last season. Yoro was a priority on the club’s list which also featured the likes of Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.
Apart from Manchester United, Real Madrid were also understood to be interested in Yoro and they reportedly submitted an offer which failed to convince French football club. The player, however, was more inclined towards the Spanish champions, who lifted the Champions League trophy last season.
According to media reports, Leny Yoro is set to travel to the UK to negotiate his personal terms with Manchester United. He will also undergo medical at Old Trafford during his trip.
“Leny Yoro is flying to the UK to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms as Manchester United push to sign the coveted centre-back,” The Athletic reported.
The outlet further claimed that “there is still work to be done” on the potential deal even though the “latest developments are a major step forward in the situation”. Yoro is likely to take his final call once Manchester United agree on the personal terms.

Earlier, transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano had revealed that Manchester United had put forward an initial offer of £42 million for Leny Yoro amid interest from Real Madrid. Lille wanted the French prodigy to join the Premier League club.
“The president of Lille, Olivier Letang, is insisting a lot, pushing a lot for Leny Yoro to accept the proposal from Manchester United because Man United are offering way more than Real Madrid – €50 million (£42m) plus add-ons,” Fabrizio Romano had said during a discussion on Playback.
Young talents like Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho have exhibited significant performances under Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. If the proposed transfer happens, Leny Yoro is expected to link up with Matthijs de Ligt at the heart of the defence. As per reports, the former Ajax defender has already reached an agreement with the Red Devils, who are reportedly set to sign the defender for £42 million.
