Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva Is Enjoying His Best Form, Says Boss Pep Guardiola

Manager Pep Guardiola said Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva’s 2-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday was “out of this world”.

Silva scored the opening goal and Kevin de Bruyne added another as City beat Burnley at the Etihad Stadium to finish third on the points table.

Guardiola said playmaker Silva showed glimpses of his form from his title-winning 2018-19 season, where the Portugal international played an integral role in the team.

Guardiola told reporters, “He is in the best form with Rodri. Since the start of the season, Bernardo has been at the same level as our second season (together) when we won 98 points.

“He was out of this world, the way he played. Defensively and aggressively, he is very comfortable. He scored a goal, which was important for him. Bernardo’s performance again has been exceptional.”

Silva was linked with a summer away from City, but the club held on to the 27-year-old, who has played more than 200 games in all competitions since joining AS Monaco in 2017.

Guardiola said, “We know how we want him, how we love him, but at the same time, not just Bernardo, all of them – I want the best of them and they are happy to be here to do well.” Will happen.”

“Bernardo is a football player and a football player can play anywhere. And so I knew his level would drop in the season because it is impossible to maintain that level in the season.

“But I encourage him to continue that way because I’m pretty sure playing at that level will make him happier and happier and he will enjoy being here with us.”
