Man shoots 3 bullets at ‘friend’, police wait at crime scene – World Latest News Headlines

A 31-year-old man fired three shots at his friend on Saturday – who was his name – allegedly over a monetary dispute, while waiting for police to reach the place where he had surrendered himself. The incident took place at around 5.15 pm near Daria Light Point in Industrial Area Phase-1 of Chandigarh.

Police have identified the deceased as 29-year-old Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Parol village in Mohali. He was shot dead by his friend Jaspreet Singh alias Monty, a resident of Sector 19. Jagdeep Singh, a resident of village Dhanas had witnessed this massacre. Jagdeep is an acquaintance of the victim.
Police have recovered a murder weapon, a pistol from Monty. Three hollow bullets were found on the spot.

SHO Inspector Harminder Singh of Industrial Area Police Station said that preliminary investigation revealed that there was a dispute over money between the two.

“Monty had lent Rs 9 lakh to Jaspreet a fortnight ago. Jasprit had promised to return the money on Saturday. Monty called Jaspreet for this and the latter reached Sector 28 with Jagdeep in an Innova car. In Sector 28, they shift to Monty’s car Skoda. There was an argument between Monty and Jaspreet over money. Amidst the brawl, Jasprit slapped Monty, who took out his pistol and fired at least four rounds. The victim was hit thrice and died on the spot,” the SHO said.

He said the weapon has been confiscated. “It’s an illegal firearm,” he said.

Sources said that Monty and Jasprit had known each other for a long time and they had exchanged money earlier as well.

First a policeman who reached the spot told that Monty confessed his crime on the spot. “He told the police team that he had called the victim for his money, but instead of returning it, Jasprit slapped him. He said that he got angry and shot Jaspreet.

The victim was taken to Civil Hospital Mani Majra Sector 13 where doctors declared him brought dead.

SHO Harminder Singh said that a case has been registered and further investigation is on.
