The court had on July 3 convicted the accused of double murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment after hearing arguments on the issue of punishment. The court, in its order, said that if the accused fails to pay the fine amount, he will have to undergo another jail term of six months.
According to Additional District Government Advocate (ADGC) Jitendra Kumar Pandey, in-charge of Naubasta police station, Hanspuram police station in-charge Sub-Inspector Santosh Kumar had said in the report filed on September 16, 2016 that Chandra Veer Singh Lalpur, a resident of the village came to him at Naubasta police post and told him. That he had killed his father Chandra Pal Singh and sister Kamlesh with sticks and bricks due to domestic strife. The SI said in the report that the shirt he was wearing had blood stains.
Later, when the SI reached the spot with three constables, two bodies were found lying in a pool of blood.
ADGC attributed the double murder to land dispute. Chandrapal had four sons and a daughter named Kamlesh. Kamlesh, despite being married, lived with his father and was demanding his share in his father’s land.
Chandraveer, who retracted from his statement to the police, told the court that when he went to his relative’s place, some unknown people killed his father and sister. But the prosecution successfully proved that the accused was present at the murder spot at the time of the incident. Since his house was in a densely populated area, there was no possibility of robbery. The prosecution produced 13 witnesses in the case.
The court, after perusing the evidence on record, convicted Chandraveer of double murder and sentenced him accordingly.
