Tiruppur: A 29-year-old man and his two minor daughters were found dead in a well in Vellakovil here on Thursday evening.
Police identified them as R Jagan, a native of Thoothikulam village in Vellakovil, and his daughters J Tejasree, 4 and J Subashree, 2.
Goat trader Jagan was living with his 27-year-old wife Gayatri and daughters in a rented house in Kasipalayam Colony of Mudiganam village in Karur district. “Preliminary investigation revealed that he had borrowed lakhs of rupees from several people and was depressed as he was unable to repay. On Thursday afternoon, Jagan took his daughters to Thoothikulam and met his sister. Later, he went to the field near his sister’s house and pushed the children into the well before jumping into it,” said a police officer.
Meanwhile, Gayatri, who could not reach her husband over phone, contacted her relatives. The relatives found the body in the well. Fire and rescue service personnel pulled out the bodies on Friday morning. He was handed over to the family after the postmortem. Vellakovil police have registered a case. news network
