Man killed for self-defense: freedom granted to Minjur woman Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: Minjur police near Chennai allowed a 21-year-old woman – who stabbed a migrant worker to death on Wednesday for trying to sexually assault – to go free after registering a case under section K 100 Indian Penal Code Which is related to death while protecting oneself.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. The Minjur police had initially registered a case of suspicious death under CrPC 174 after his body was recovered from near a fish farm in Minjoor on Wednesday.
woman separate (name changed), mother of two, worked at a fish farm owned by gems of kolathuri. She was engaged in routine work when an unknown person entered the field. The youth strangled the woman and took her to a secluded place, where he tried to sexually assault her.
Police interrogation revealed that the woman, who tried to free herself from the man, pushed him hard on the ground. The man hit a rock on the ground and fell unconscious. Later, the woman dragged him outside the field and threw him on the roadside.
Malliga returned to the farm and informed her husband who worked in the same field. He and other workers ran to see the man. Till then the villagers had surrounded the youth lying unconscious on the roadside.
On information, Minjur police reached the spot under the leadership of Police Inspector Vadivel Murugan. He alerted the ‘108’ ambulance. Later the death of the young man was confirmed.
Inspector Vadivel Murugan said, “We inquired about the suspect in the neighborhood and they had seen the man in the area a few days back. But residents confirmed that he was not employed in any company there.
Tiruvallur district superintendent of police V Varun Kumar “After realizing the genuineness of the matter, the woman was booked under section 100 (right of private defense of body causing death) of the IPC,” it said.
In early January this year, Superintendent of Police P Aravindan had invoked the section to allow a 19-year-old girl to go free after killing a man who attempted rape while under the influence of alcohol.
