Man ends life by jumping in funeral pyre of cousin in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar

An 18-year-old man allegedly ended his life by jumping into his cousin’s pyre in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. The police gave this information on Monday. He said that the incident took place on Friday evening in Majhguwa village of Baheria police station area.

Baheria police station in-charge Divya Prakash Tripathi said that her 21-year-old cousin went missing on Thursday evening after she left the house to bring vegetables to the field. When she did not return, the family started a search.

They suspected that she might have slipped into a well located in a field in the village.

Later, they found the woman’s body in the well and informed the police, the officer said. He told that after receiving information about the woman’s death, her cousin Karan (18), who lives in Dhar, 430 km from here, traveled to Sagar on a motorcycle.

Karan allegedly jumped into the burning pyre during the last rites of the woman on Friday evening, the official said.

Some villagers dragged him and took him to the hospital, but he died on the way to the medical facility, the official said.

He said that the police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
