Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh has said that Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Uttar Pradesh in support of Akhilesh Yadav will harm the Samajwadi Party chief’s prospects rather than improve her.
The Trinamool Congress chief had earlier addressed a rally in support of the SP-led alliance in Varanasi and claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party would be “defeated”. Banerjee had also shared the stage with Akhilesh and visited the Ganga Ghats in Varanasi.
He said, ‘Mamata is doing more harm to Akhilesh. He works on MY (Muslim-Yadav) Factor. He has M but Y has slipped from Akhilesh’s hands.”
Claiming that Mamata has disrespected ‘Sanatan Dharma’, Singh alleged that she was committed to ‘creating a Muslim state’ in West Bengal.
“Hindus are running away from their state while they have laid red carpet for Rohingya Muslims. He had said that as long as he is in power, Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators will not be touched. His minister asked people to come with him to ‘Naya Pakistan’. With such history, why would the people of Varanasi support him?” he said.
He took a similar jibe at Mulayam Yadav, asking if ‘Krishna Bhakts’ can go with his party, as he had said ‘Muslims will be protected at all costs’.
Responding to the Bengal Chief Minister sitting on a dharna after black flags were shown in Varanasi, Singh asked how the people of Varanasi would love him when he called them ‘goons’. “Why shouldn’t they show his black flag,” the Union minister said.

On Banerjee’s visit to the ghats in Varanasi, Singh said, “I am glad that Modi ji brought Mamata to Kashi Ghat and made someone wear ‘Janeu’ over her clothes. Both the brothers and sisters (Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi) were shocked to see Kashi Dham.”
“Modi ji is an ‘avatar’ and the prime minister is going to take the country on the path of Vishwa Guru (world guru),” Singh said.
The Union minister said Uttar Pradesh’s results will be “astonishing” and the BJP will do better than expected.
