The standoff between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government and the protesting doctors continued, with discussions on the matter faltering for the third consecutive day.

CM Banerjee claimed that she waited two hours at the State Secretariat to meet the doctors, but they did not turn up. While most of the doctors were interested in the meeting, a handful sought to create a stalemate, she added.

The Chief Minister suggested that the demonstrations were politically driven and were backed by the left.
