MALABAR HILL: MUMBAI: Police arrested one person for stealing parcels from delivery agents. Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: Malabar Hill Police recently arrested a 22-year-old man for stealing parcels meant to be delivered from delivery agents to buyers.
The accused used to keep an eye on a delivery agent and when the person parked his bike and kept his parcel outside a building and went to drop a parcel, the accused stole the parcel bag and ran away.

During interrogation, he admitted that a delivery agent had run away with several parcels. Later the accused was handed over to Malabar Hill Police.
A police officer said, “He used to keep a watch on the delivery agents and if any of them parked his bike with other parcels and went to drop the parcel in any building, then the accused would steal the parcel and run away. ” In one case he stole a bike from Parel area and used it in another offense of parcel theft.
A police officer said, “In the Malabar Hill police case, he stole parcels worth between Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000. He knew some people and used to sell the stolen goods to them.”
Interestingly, Gada committed all nine offenses during 2021. A case has also been registered against him Andheri for a similar offence. Another official said, “In one case, he had removed all the packing material from the parcel and carried only valuables. He used to roam around the city and supervise the delivery agents.”
Police are now trying to find out if there is any such gang which works on the same pattern for theft. A similar case was registered in Malabar Hill area after Gada’s arrest and police are working to investigate the pattern of crime and arrest the accused.
