Making highest monthly contribution to Anganwadi workers in North India, says Haryana government | Chandigarh News – Times of India

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has claimed that it is making the highest monthly contribution of Rs 9,961 to the Anganwadi workers in its share of honorariumwhile the central share is Rs 2,700.
This scheme is being run on a 60:40 partnership of Central and State Governments. In Haryana In the year 2014, Anganwadi workers used to get Rs 7,500 and Anganwadi helpers got Rs 3,500 as honorarium, which has almost doubled now. Haryana Government is giving honorarium of Rs 12,661 per month to Anganwadi worker, Rs. 11,401 to Mini Anganwadi worker and Rs. 6,781 to Sahayika, this honorarium is inclusive of centre’s share.
A spokesperson of the state government claimed that the honorarium being given to Anganwadi workers and helpers by the Haryana government is the highest among the states of North India and second in the country.
The spokesperson said that in comparison to Haryana, the Anganwadi workers are being given an honorarium of Rs 12,200 in Tamil Nadu, Rs 6,500 in Chhattisgarh, Rs 10,000 in Madhya Pradesh, Rs 8,250 in West Bengal and Rs 9,500 in Punjab, which is much less than Haryana.
Similarly, Mini Anganwadi workers are being given honorarium of Rs 11,401 in Haryana. Whereas in Tamil Nadu Rs 9,400, Telangana Rs 7,800, Chhattisgarh Rs 4,500, Madhya Pradesh Rs 5,750 and Punjab Rs 6,300 honorarium is being given. Talking about Anganwadi Helpers, an honorarium of Rs 6,781 is being given to Anganwadi Helpers in Haryana. In comparison to Haryana, an honorarium of Rs 3,250 is being given to Anganwadi helpers in Chhattisgarh, Rs 5,000 in Madhya Pradesh, Rs 4,800 in West Bengal and Rs 5,000 in Punjab.
It is evident from these figures that the Anganwadi workers and helpers in Haryana are getting more salary and facilities than other states.
The spokesperson said that the Haryana Government has also made several announcements in favor of Anganwadi workers, mini Anganwadi workers, and Anganwadi helpers in the past. An amount of Rs 1 lakh has been announced to Anganwadi workers and mini Anganwadi workers on retirement and Rs 50,000 to Anganwadi helpers.
Apart from this, an amount of Rs 2 lakh has been announced by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to the Anganwadi workers, mini Anganwadi workers, and helpers in case of an accident. At the same time, it was announced to promote Anganwadi workers who have more than 10 years of service experience on the basis of seniority and written examination according to the policy.
