Reacting to Maken’s appointment, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia said in a statement, “It is a true indicator of the concern that the Gandhi family and the Congress high command have for Sikhs and their sentiments.”

“With someone who presided over the virtual wipe out of the party in Delhi, now being given a job in Punjab, the fate of the party can be anyone’s guess,” he said.
“After ensuring that the Congress gets zero seats in two successive elections in Delhi in 2014 and 2019, he has now been sent to ensure that the same feat is achieved in Punjab,” Singh said.
The former chief minister said this clearly indicates that the Congress has conceded defeat before the elections by appointing “a failed politician”, who lost the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha and assembly elections, even in the assembly He also lost his bail.
