The rise in the cases of coronavirus has once again disrupted the shooting of the film in India and across the world. SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which was scheduled to release in theaters across the world this month, has been postponed due to fresh restrictions imposed by several states to tackle the rising COVID-19 cases in the country. Now with RRR backing out, Rajamouli has started working on his new one which stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role. The yet-to-be-titled film, which was announced in April 2020, is being written by Rajamouli’s father KV Vijayendra Prasad. As per a Pinkvilla report, the trio has started working on the script of the film. According to a source close to the development, Rajamouli and his father have started the process of “gradually locking down the idea of their next film under Mahesh Babu and the draft of the script.”
“The final edit of RRR along with background score, VFX and color correction has been locked. That too has been censored, and now all that Rajamouli and co. It needs to be released. With enough free time in hand, the ace filmmaker and his writer father have started the process of locking the idea and script draft of their next led by Mahesh Babu,” the source was quoted as saying by the publication. .
The work-in-progress film will be a jungle-based adventure with Mahesh Babu playing the role of a wanderer on the lines of the protagonist in ‘Jumanji and Indian Jones’. The source told Pinkvilla: ‘There are other ideas as well, but it is this African jungle film that both want to look forward to. They both feel that Mahesh would be best suited to play a wanderer on the lines of the protagonist in Jumanji and Indian Jones. Once the main part of story writing is completed, there will be a clear picture by the end of this year.
Back in 2020, it was announced that Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s film produced by KL Narayan will go on floors this year.
Earlier this month, Team RRR released a statement announcing the delay of the film.
“Keeping in mind the best interests of all parties involved, we are compelled to postpone our film. We thank all the fans and viewers for their unconditional love.”
