A total of 1,75,38,896 swab samples have been tested so far in Mumbai, with 12,452 coronavirus tests being conducted in the day.

Maharashtra recorded 3,249 fresh coronavirus cases, a slight decline from a day earlier when the state recorded 3,640 new coronavirus cases on Thursday. The state health department said four more deaths linked to the infection were recorded in the state.

With these additions, the state’s total COVID-19 tally rose to 79,79,363, while the death toll rose to 1,47,929, the health department said in a bulletin. On Thursday, the state recorded 3,640 cases and three deaths.

The bulletin said that 4,189 patients recovered from the coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative count to 78,07,438 and the active cases in the state to 23,996.

The recovery rate of corona virus in the state is 97.85 percent. The health department said 42,443 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, taking their total to 8,20,44,129.

Mumbai’s covid status

Mumbai recorded 978 new coronavirus infections and two pandemic-related deaths, raising the city’s caseload to 11,13,470 and the death toll to 19,612. A civic official said there has been a 22.6 per cent drop in daily cases since Thursday, when 1,265 new cases were reported in the city.

Mumbai on Friday reported less than 1,000 cases after five days, and the number of active cases also dropped below 10,000. India’s financial capital now has 9,710 active cases. According to official figures, the city recorded 45,619 coronavirus cases and 44 deaths in June, while May saw 5,979 cases and three deaths.

A total of 1,75,38,896 swab samples have been tested so far in the city, which includes 12,452 coronavirus tests conducted during the day.

The drop in new infections brought down the positivity rate to 7.8 per cent from 9.9 per cent a day earlier. At least 1,896 patients have recovered from the infection since last evening, taking the number of recoveries to 10,84,148.
