Maharashtra records 2,922 Covid cases, sees a slight decline with over 150 fewer infections from a day earlier

Maharashtra recorded 2,922 fresh Covid cases with one fatality on Saturday. A state health official said that the state saw a decline in cases after 159 less cases were registered as compared to the previous day.

A 37-year-old man from Pune was diagnosed with the BA.5 sub-variant. Officials said his sample was processed at the Pune-based Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research and was kept in home isolation. The person had returned from England on 12 May.

The state is now left with 14,858 active cases. Maharashtra’s total caseload rose to 79,07,631 and the number of Covid deaths climbed to 1,47,868.

The official said that the recovery rate from Kovid in the state is now 97.94 percent. The case fatality rate is 1.86 percent.

A total of 41,302 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the number of samples tested so far in Maharashtra to 8,12,78,846.

The Health Department said that a total of 1,392 people were discharged after treatment for Kovid, taking the total number of cured in the state to 77,44,905.

The only Kovid death in Maharashtra was from Mumbai. Of the total 14,858 active cases in Maharashtra, Mumbai has 10,047, Thane 2,460, Raigad 470 and Palghar 378.

Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 1,745 new Covid cases and one death on Saturday. A civic official said that with this the number has increased to 10,78,944 and the toll to 19,571. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said that of the new cases, only 99 required hospitalisation, of which 11 required oxygen support, taking the total number of such patients to 34.

He said the number of recoveries rose to 10,49,326 from 888, leaving the metropolis with an active caseload of 10,047 from 9,191 a day earlier. He said 14,227 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests to 1,72,74,399. BMC data showed that the recovery rate was 97 per cent, the overall growth rate of cases between June 4 and 10 was 0.122 per cent, while the caseload doubling time was 561 days.

India recorded 8,329 new cases of the novel coronavirus, with 10 deaths due to the infection in the last 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday (June 11), there were a total of 3,791 discharges in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate to about 98.69 percent and the total recovery data reaching 4,26. ,48,308.

The total active cases of COVID in India has risen to 40,370, data from the Ministry of Health showed today. The active cases registered yesterday stood at 36,267. An increase of 4,103 cases has been registered in the active Covid caseload in a period of 24 hours. The ministry said that active cases comprise 0.09 per cent of the total infections.
