Maharashtra: Person was In Touch With Lawrence Bishnoi

One of the people who was in communication with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has been nabbed by police in Akola, Maharashtra. Three persons have been taken into custody and two handguns have been found by the police.

When Were The Men Detained?

On January 16, two firearms and nine rounds were found in a well in Akola, according to police, who were responding to a tip. A case was filed in this instance under the Arms Act. On January 17, the accused Prafull Vinayak Chavan and Ajay Tularam Dethe were taken into custody by the police.

Investigations further revealed that Pune resident Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar had given an unidentified source instructions to transfer guns to Chavan. It stated that on January 30, mastermind Lonkar was taken into custody.

What Did The Maharashtra Police say?

Following an inquiry, it was discovered that Lonkar had reportedly made two WhatsApp video calls to gangster  Lawrence Bishnoi in 2022 and 2023. Additionally, he had received three international WhatsApp audio calls, one of which was from the gangster’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi.

“The investigation is focused on finding the middlemen and the motive behind dropping the parcel in Akola,” stated Bachchan Singh, Superintendent of Police. The claimed audio and video WhatsApp conversations with Lawrence Bishnoi and other others are also being looked into by the police.
