Maharashtra: Karnataka sends 13 private Maharashtra buses back from the checkpost. Kolhapur News – Times of India

Kolhapur: Implementation of Karnataka Order of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai – Order to make it mandatory for any passenger from here Maharashtra Also to carry double vaccination certificate RT-PCR negative report – Started on the state border on Monday.
Bommai, during his visit to Belagavi on Sunday, had asked officials to increase screening at checkposts and ensure that people entering Karnataka have both documents to prevent the spread of omicrons. Till Monday, either of the two documents was valid to enter the state of Karnataka.
Between Monday midnight and noon, 13 private transport buses carrying passengers, which were going to Karnataka from different places in Maharashtra, were turned back midway from Kognoli checkpost. kolhapur and Belagavi district. This is because most passengers did not carry one or both of the documents.
The development has angered the Guardian Minister of Kolhapur district, Satej Patil. He said that despite the Center advising the states not to create any hindrance in the travel of passengers from one state to another, Karnataka has taken a drastic step.
Patil even asked Kolhapur collector Rahul Rekhawar whether he had spoken to the Belagavi collector in this matter. Rekhavar said he had contacted his Belagavi counterpart several times, but the response was cold, as the Karnataka official claimed the order “came from above”.
“I will write to Karnataka government to make mandatory only vaccination certificate and not RT-PCR, which can be done at the destination. The decision of Karnataka government is condemnable and against the directions of the Centre. We have thousands of people in Kolhapur, Sangli. And Solapur district which has to cross the state border several times. Their daily routine should not be affected.”
Meanwhile, the Kolhapur police has also started strictly implementing the Maharashtra government’s order making it mandatory for travelers from Karnataka to have an RT-PCR negative report (not older than 72 hours) or vaccination certificate. District Superintendent of Police Shailesh Balakwade said, “We have started strictly implementing the state government’s order. Every day 30 to 40 vehicles are sent back as passengers lack required documents.”
