According to a report, the nurse had joined work about three weeks back. He was caught before he could board a train to Solapur, where his mother lives. The police have also seized blood-stained clothes as evidence.

A 29-year-old nurse deputed to take care of a 70-year-old man in Maharashtra’s Jogeshwari (a western suburb of Mumbai) killed the senior citizen. However, he was arrested before he could board the train from Dadar.

Chowkidar Shashikant Kedekar said that accused Pappu Jalinder Gawli also took his bag kept at the security counter.

While leaving, the accused told Kedekar that his patient had slipped off the bed.

The accused was placed under the care of the victim, Sudhir Chiplunkar, who lived with his wife Supriya (69) at their Jogeshwari (East) flat.

According to reports, the nurse had joined work around three weeks ago. He was caught before he could board a train to Solapur, where his mother lives. The police have also seized blood-stained clothes as evidence.

The accused had attacked the old man on his throat and stomach and he died even before he was admitted to the hospital. His wife is currently being treated in a private hospital.

The victim’s daughter Sucheta and son Siddharth arrived from UK and US to perform the last rites.

Police have now registered a case against the nursing agency for not completing the mandatory background check. According to the police, the nurse was arrested in January 2022 on charges of bike theft.

“The victim’s wife was lying on the floor in a semi-conscious state and there was blood in the room. Sudhir was in the bedroom covered in blood. His wife was not able to talk. He wrote down the name of the nurse and the owner of the placement agency. Residents said they had seen the nurse walking the elderly man into the building on Monday morning – a daily routine. “He [the nurse] appeared calm.
