Friday was the last day to withdraw nominations on December 10 legislative council election, The counting of votes will take place on December 14.
Patole told reporters in Nagpur that the BJP has withdrawn its candidate from Kolhapur, while the Congress has helped the BJP candidate in the Dhule-Nandurbar constituency go to the polls unopposed.
He said with the BJP withdrawing its candidate from Kolhapur, Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home Satej Patil of the Congress would be elected unopposed, while Amrish Patel of the BJP would be elected unopposed from the Dhule-Nandurbar constituency.
Patole said BJP and Shiv Sena candidates have been elected unopposed for each of the two seats in Mumbai.
He expressed confidence that Congress candidate Ravindra Bhoyar would win the Nagpur local body seat. He is pitted against BJP leader and former minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
“There was no proposal from BJP for Nagpur seat. Congress will definitely win the seat,” Patole said.
The tenure of the current MLC on these seats is ending on December 1.
The Akola-Washim-Buldhana local body seat will see a contest between BJP and Shiv Sena.
