Maharashtra CM Thackeray promises proper solution to the problems of transporters due to covid

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday said a suitable solution would be worked out to address the various problems and financial crunch faced by transporters in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chief Minister was speaking during a meeting with a delegation of the Maharashtra State Truck, Tempo, Tanker and Bus Transport Federation at the Sahyadri Guest House here.

He also directed the Finance, Transport and Police departments of the state to find suitable solutions to the various demands of the transporters. The transporters’ delegation made various demands including exemption from annual motor vehicle tax and business tax, complete exemption of motor tax on vehicles carrying passengers to schools and religious places and provision of parking space for vehicles and buses across the state.

The transport federation also demanded reduction in tax on air-conditioned buses transporting workers, removal of 10- to 16-hour ban on entry of heavy and heavy vehicles in major cities of the state, cancellation and reduction of pending transport cases. . Power of police to inspect public service vehicles.

Thackeray said the urban development department would be informed about the need for adequate parking of buses and trucks in the cities and locations would be planned for this purpose. He also asked the officials to make a plan to set up trauma care centers at various check posts.

A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office said that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that an appropriate solution will be found immediately in case of transporters in the state, who are facing financial crunch due to COVID-19.

NCP President Sharad Pawar, State Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Transport Minister Anil Parab, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Ashish Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, Director General of Police Sanjay Pandey in the meeting and others were present.
