In a post written on his Facebook page last week, DGP Sanjay Pandey had invited applications on this, referring to the social media account.

A very surprising case has come to the fore in Maharashtra. State Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Pandey has invited applications on his Facebook page for two vacant posts of SP in the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in the state. He has asked the interested candidates to contact the department or send their applications through social media. In fact, a few days ago, Maharashtra ATS chief Vineet Agarwal wrote a letter to the state government demanding more team members for ATS. However, Aggarwal refused to say anything on this post of Sanjay Pandey.

Sanjay Pandey wrote this in his post
In a post on his Facebook page last week, DGP Sanjay Pandey had written that two posts of Superintendent of Police (SP) in ATS, Mumbai are vacant. ATS is a reputed institute. 25 percent special allowance is provided on appointment in this. Interested officers can directly contact to ADG ATS or ADG Posting. Apart from this, while referring to his social media account, Pandey had invited applications on this as well.

Because of this, the officers are getting disillusioned with ATS
However, so far not many people have expressed their desire to go to ATS. Several current and former ATS officers said the state’s counter-terrorism unit has lost its sheen in the last few years as the most pressing and sensitive cases are being probed by the Central’s National Investigation Agency (NIA). This is one of the major reasons that now the inclination of officers towards ATS is decreasing. Not only this, former senior officials said, the constant tussle between the Center and the state has worked to create a rift between the central and state agencies. Due to this people are getting disillusioned with the state agencies.

These posts of ATS are vacant
According to sources, ATS chief Vineet Agarwal told Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manu Kumar Srivastava that four key posts in ATS are lying vacant for a long time and they should be filled soon. ATS SP (Technical Analysis) Sohail Sharma has gone to the US for higher studies. Rajkumar Shinde, another SP rank officer in ATS, was transferred to Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sometime back, but he has not been relieved from ATS yet. The post of ATS IG was earlier held by Suhas Warke, but he was transferred a year ago. Since then this post is also vacant. Similarly, the post of ATS DIG is also vacant, as Shivdeep Lande has been sent to Bihar in November.

no one will answer to DG
A Mumbai Police official while talking to The Indian Express said, ATS is a very prestigious department. Everyone wants to work in it. Any interested person will not reply to DG on his Facebook account as other officials will also come to know about it.

These big cases were snatched from ATS and given to NIA
The former ATS officer said, “During the last few years, Maharashtra ATS was handling several cases related to Islamic State terrorist organization (ISIS). In which the case of Kalyan in 2014 and the youth of Malwani joining ISIS in 2015 was also included. However, some time ago both these cases were transferred to the NIA. The ATS investigated the 2006 and 2008 Malegaon blasts cases and also filed charge sheets. However, both these cases were later taken over from them and handed over to the NIA.

The former ATS officer further said, “Maharashtra ATS did a good job in Antilia explosives recovery case. Uranium recovery case was also disclosed by the ATS team and many important clues were also discovered about the death of Mansukh Hiren, but this case It was also snatched from their hands and handed over to the NIA.It was very disappointing and it affected the morale of the ATS officers.

The biggest problem is the work of NIA and ATS.
According to this official, since the charter of NIA and ATS is broadly similar, both the agencies deal with the cases of terrorism and counterfeit currency. He said, “When there is a government of the same party both at the Center and in the state, there is harmony in both the agencies, but when it is not, the situation is different. Another former ATS officer said that earlier in the ATS There was also a shortage of assistant commissioners, but now the situation has improved.
