Thane: Sixty-two prisoners of an old age home Maharashtraof Thane district has tested positive for coronavirus infection and all of them have been admitted to a civil hospital here, a senior Health the official said on Sunday.
Following complaints of ill health by some inmates, a team of doctors on Saturday examined 109 inmates of the Matoshree old age home. Khadavali In Bhiwandi Taluka, District Health Officer Dr. Manish Renge told PTI.
Of them, the results of 61 came positive, he said, adding that another prisoner had tested positive for the viral infection on Friday.
These 62 prisoners, who are above 60 years of age, have been admitted to the hospital. Thane Civil Hospital for treatment, the official said.
He said five relatives of some of these prisoners also tested positive for coronavirus and were also admitted to the civil hospital.
He said that the district administration was monitoring the health of these prisoners and taking appropriate steps to prevent further spread of the infection.
