Maha Sarkar has appointed people associated with Dawood in the Waqf Board, Fadnavis told the Assembly

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Monday accused the Maharashtra government of keeping people having links with fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim in the state’s Waqf Board. Speaking in the assembly, Fadnavis said that he had submitted a pen drive containing conversations between Waqf Board members Mohammad Arshad Khan and Mudasir Lambe.

During the conversation, Lambe claimed that his father-in-law was Ibrahim’s aide, while Khan said that his uncle was part of the underworld, Fadnavis told the House. The BJP leader alleged that Khan is in jail, while Lambe is out despite facing rape charges.

He also attacked the MVA government over the budgetary provisions, stating that capital expenditure has come down from 49 per cent to 35 per cent, which is worrying, while revenue expenditure has increased from 60 per cent to 66 per cent. Fadnavis said the increase in GSDP by 12.1 per cent was only on paper, while the five-point development program announced by the state government did not include anything on education.

Terming the budget announcements as old liquor in a new bottle, he said that despite the state government’s claims of waiving farm loans, farmers are being forced to take financial help from moneylenders. “If Mumbai is getting 130 per cent increase in wealth, it is just 5 per cent for Osmanabad district. Why this difference? NCP-led portfolios got 57 per cent, Congress 26 per cent and Shiv Sena 16 per cent.

Fadnavis attacked the government over power cuts of agricultural plots, malpractices in setting up COVID-19 facilities, lack of relief to those affected by cyclone Nisarga and Touka.
