Madhya Pradesh Woman Delivers Twins with Video Call Help

A pregnant woman in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, successfully delivered twins in a scenario reminiscent of the film ‘3 Idiots,’ thanks to the remote guidance of a doctor. On Tuesday, a woman from Jorawadi village went into labor, prompting her family to call for an ambulance. However, continuous rainfall had caused the village’s nearby stream to flood, preventing the ambulance from reaching her.

The urgent situation was reported to Dr. Manisha Sirsam at the government hospital. Dr. Sirsam promptly coordinated with an ASHA worker to contact the village’s trained midwife, Reshna Vanshkar, and sent her to the woman’s home. Over the phone, Dr. Sirsam guided the midwife through the delivery process, ensuring a safe childbirth.

Despite the challenging conditions, the woman delivered twins safely. Once the floodwaters receded, the mother and her newborns were transported by ambulance to the district hospital. Dr. Sirsam confirmed that both the mother, identified as Raveena, and her twins are in good health.

Dr. Sirsam explained the urgency and coordination required for the delivery. She noted that Raveena went into labor unexpectedly, and the ambulance could not navigate the flooded stream. With the help of the ASHA worker, midwife Reshna Vanshkar reached the location, and under Dr. Sirsam’s continuous phone guidance, the delivery was successfully managed.
