In Madhya Pradesh, 31 cases of chickenpox were reported in seven districts, following which the state government issued a health advisory, an official said on Saturday. Health Commissioner and Secretary (Health) Dr Sudam Khade said that the Chief Medical and Health Officers of all the districts have been directed to take action as per the advisory issued regarding prevention and treatment of smallpox.

“A total of 31 cases of fever with rash have been reported in Chhatarpur, Chhindwara, Datia, Neemuch, Bhopal, Dhar and Khandwa districts in the last one month. Clinical examination of these cases revealed a presumptive diagnosis of chickenpox. It is,” Khade said.

Chickenpox is a highly contagious disease and can infect children, pregnant women and adolescents.
