Lynn Grant makes history as first female winner on DP World Tour – Henry Club

The Swedish golfer pulled off an impressive nine-shot victory in the Scandinavian mixed event after an eight-under 64 final round at Halmstadt Golf Club.

Grant, who turned professional last year, par 24-under, comfortably ahead of compatriots Henrik Stenson and Mark Warren of Scotland, and 14 shots away from next woman, Gabriella Cowley.

Asked whether competing against his male counterparts and being successful was his motivation, Grant said: “Of course, that was the most important thing!”

“It’s a great feeling and all week I’ve felt it was girls against boys and whoever took the trophy was representing that side of the field,” she told Sky Sports.

The Scandinavian mixed event is hosted by Swedish greats Stenson and Annika Sorenstam.

It has been on the Men’s European Tour, renamed the DP World Tour, since 1991, but was co-sanctioned with the Ladies European Tour in 2020.

Now both men and women are involved in this incident. Although they play different tees, a winner is crowned, with Jonathan Caldwell winning the first edition last year.

In 2022, 78 men and 78 women took part, and it was 22-year-old Grant who made history at the end of the four-day long game.

With her boyfriend, Pontus, playing as her caddy, Grint – who came in as number 156 in the women’s world – made 26 birdies and an eagle easy to win a commendable victory.

“I hope people recognize women’s golf more, sponsor the Ladies European Tour and hopefully expand on the women’s game a bit more,” Grant said after Sky Sports.

“I didn’t see it (lead) until the 13th green, where the screen was, and it was a little bit (of a shock). I thought maybe three or four ahead, but then when I saw eight, I thought I was really I can take a breath and move on and do my job.”
