The Sutak period is considered special at the time of eclipse. The doors of the temple are closed during the Sutak period. Auspicious work is not done during Sutak period and food is avoided.

Traveling during the Sutak period is also not advised. Pregnant women are advised to take special precautions during the Sutak period. Sutak period is considered effective only when there is a complete eclipse. The lunar eclipse on November 19 is partial, so following the rules of Sutak period will not be valid in this eclipse.
