LUDHIANA: Khanna police have arrested three drug peddlers including a woman after it recovered four kilograms of opium from their possession.
The accused were identified as Shiv Kumar Gupta of Ramgarh in District Kaimoor in Bihar, Sonu Shah of Kolkoley in District Chatra of Jharkhand and Rinki Kumari Tirki of Kolkoley of the same area.
Police officials said that a Police team had set up a check post near Navkiran Dhaba, on GT road, opposite village Mandiala Kalan. They added that during the Checking, the police party saw a car (Model Swift Dzire) bearing registration number JH-07-H-4912 coming from Khanna’s side and they stopped the vehicle for checking.
Cops said that the car driver was identified as Shiv Kumar and persons sitting in the back seat of the car were identified as Sonu and Rinki. They added that on the searching the car, 4 kilograms of opium was recovered.
Police said that a case under sections of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused at Sadar Khanna police station and they were arrested. It added that during the initial investigation, it has come to light that the accused persons had bought the consignment from Jharkhand and were going to deliver it in the area of ​​Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur.
Police officials said that during the Police remand, the accused persons are being questioned and there is a possibility of major disclosures about the consignment like wherefrom they had brought it and to whom they had to be delivered in the area of ​​Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur.
