Ludhiana : Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma On Friday, the Health, Rural Development and Panchayats, local bodies and municipal corporations were asked to launch a massive campaign to check the spread of dengue in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner while presiding over the meeting at the District Administrative Complex here said that the places where there is a possibility of production larva In this campaign mosquitoes should be identified and people should be made aware about breeding sites.
He said that a combined team consisting of health Department And the local bodies should conduct door-to-door surveys and check the places where the larvae are breeding due to negligence of the owners such as storage of water in air-coolers or other waste materials of the house.
Sharma said that special inspection of government offices should also be done in this regard to ensure that air-coolers, old/old utensils and others do not become breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
He said that the district administration is strongly committed to tackle this menace to ensure good health of the residents.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that there is a need to make elaborate arrangements especially in hot spots to deal with these vector borne diseases.
He said that 106 cases of dengue have been reported so far this year and this number should be the lowest.
