Singer Lucky Ali faced major criticism when he claimed that the word ‘Brahmin’ is derived from ‘Abraham’.

Singer Lucky Ali, who is popular for his hit songs like ‘O Sanam’, ‘Ek Pal Ka Jeena’, ‘Hairaat’ and ‘Safarnama’, posted a now-deleted post on his Facebook page. Ali has been facing massive backlash ever since he wrote that the word “Brahmin” is derived from the name “Abram”. His post angered many on social media, which led him to issue an apology.

In his statement, Ali clarified that his intention was only to bring everyone closer and “not to create trouble”. “Dear all, I am aware of the controversy my previous post may have caused. It was not my intention to cause distress or anger to anyone and I am deeply sorry,” the singer wrote on Facebook. It was meant to bring everyone together… but I realized it didn’t turn out the way I wanted. I will be more conscious of what I am posting and my words, as I see now that it has upset many of my Hindu brothers and sisters. I am deeply sorry for that. I love you all…”

In his now-deleted post, Ali had shared, “The name ‘Brahmin’ comes from ‘Brahma’ which comes from ‘Abram’ .. which comes from Abraham or Ibrahim…Brahmins are the descendants of Ibrahim. Alaihissalam… Father of all nations… So why is everyone just arguing and fighting with each other without reason?’
