Lucknow University seeks to provide a global learning experience through long-term (7-10 years) foreign faculty, student exchanges and dual degree courses.

Lucknow University (LU) has prepared a vision plan to set advanced goals for itself in various fields over the next decade.

It will initiate continuous upgradation of the curriculum in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes on a holistic approach and interdisciplinary subjects, said Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai in an official release.

He added: “Based on market demand and future opportunities, new study areas will be introduced such as Nanotechnology, Food Science and Technology, Indic Studies, Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science), Production and Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy and PhD programs in Engineering and Pharmacy.”

Emphasis will also be laid on presenting nationally relevant issues such as Asian history, globalization of Indian culture, modern Indian knowledge system, contemporary history, contribution of women in the freedom struggle and various streams of national freedom movement, he added.

Apart from this, the university is planning to create vocational skills by creating bridges between fashion designing, floriculture, floriculture, organic farming, seed quality/viability testing, food testing, renewable energy and other disciplines.

The focus will be on creating avenues for students to engage in more experiential learning with local, national and international experts.

“New teaching laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art interactive teaching equipment will be further upgraded and set up. More short-term courses will be introduced to equip professionals with market-related skills,” Rai said.

In-house startups will be supported and the student-teacher ratio will be improved by creating new teaching vacancies, adding adjunct teaching positions, appointing professors of practice and engaging faculty members through fellowship programmes.

In the long term goals (7-10 years), the university aims to provide a global learning experience through international faculty, online learning collaborations, student exchanges and dual degree courses.

He said that Knowledge Parks would be set up to facilitate research, nurture applications, disseminate research findings to the society and create publicly accessible knowledge banks.

Additionally, the university has plans to set up overseas campuses, meet international standards and become a research partner for collaborations in India, thus expanding its brand overseas.
